Croatia 1

Croatia 1

As our cruise ship sailed past the dramatic coastline of Croatia, which borders the Adriatic Sea, I made photographs of the beautiful scenery. The deep blue sky and water, steep cliffs and small towns nestled in coves and harbours were beautiful. As we approached the city of Dubrovnik, there were more and more houses along the shoreline. Many were very close to the ocean and I thought about the difference in Newfoundland and Labrador. In the Mediterranean the water is always warmer and the weather hotter than in the North Atlantic. Here the ocean is always cold, even in summer, and the temperatures are much lower. Life near the sea is much different in each place.

Over the next few days, I will share photos from Dubrovnik, the last port of call on our Mediterranean cruise. We had signed up for a tour through the countryside outside the city and will also share images of the landscape and people dressed in traditional costumes.

Photos of the Day are for sale as stock photographs
and photographic enlargements.
They can also be purchased as slide shows
and/or wallpapers/screensavers.
