Middle Cove is located on the scenic Marine Drive, just minutes from the city of St. John's. During summer months, especially if capelin are "rolling in" or whales are surfacing just off the beach, many people visit Middle Cove to relax and enjoy the ocean. The crowd in the first photo today were there to watch whales. Unfortunately, they had been there all day but moved offshore just before I arrived.
There are hiking trails in Middle Cove that will take you along the high cliffs between Middle Cove and Torbay. The second photo was taken on the East Coast Trail looking back towards Outer Cove. You can see a few houses on the cliffs in the distance.
