Cape St. Mary's 3, 2002

Cape St. Mary's 3, 2002

In 2002, I visited Cape St. Mary's, located on the Cape Shore on the southwest Avalon.
This is the most accessible and one of the best sites for viewing nesting birds in the world and the reason is obvious from today's images.  You can see that people can walk from the parking lot to a viewing spot on the cliffs just meters from the nesting birds.  There are no fences or rails, so people have to be very careful.  The cliffs are very steep.
