Spring 7






The subject of today's Photo of the Day is an interesting species of lichen that grow all over the world and is known locally as old man's beard. Although these lichens look the same in all seasons, I thought the greens in the backgrounds looked "springish". :)

Many people are not aware that these are living organisms - actually lichens are actually two organisms, a fungus and alga, which live in a symbiotic relationship. I have photographed them numerous times over the years and have many images of them in my stock photography collection.
