Pigeons

Pigeons

I was taking pictures in Bowring Park in St. John's, NL when a flock og pigeons flew overhead. I took a few pictures as they flew overhead. I have also seen fairly large flocks of pigeons during my travels, so I decided to create this album to share my pictures. La Manche

La Manche

In 2004, my son and I hiked to La Manche on the Southern Shore of the Avalon Peninsula. A short hike takes you to what remains of the community after it was destroyed during a severe storm in 1966. The scenic East Coast Trail passes through the community and you can follow it to see spectacular seascapes. You can view the pictures I took in my La Manche Facebook Album - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1728684993938939&type=3

African Lion

 African Lion

I took these pictures of a male African Lion at the Naples Zoo in Naples, Florida in April 2007.  I later found out that this particular lion had died. I was glad I had the opportunity to take pictures when I did! Lions are interesting animals, and the only ones I have seen were in Zoos. I can't imagine living in an area where these huge predators are free to roam and hunt.

I will add these photos to my Lions Facebook Album that you can view here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.652857196527719&type=3

Goldenrods

Goldenrods

The goldenrods in my yard are about ready to bloom. These pretty yellow flowers add much-needed colour this time of the year. Many people think they are bad for people with allergies, but they feed bees and other insects well into the fall. I like taking pictures of them, though I am not always pleased with the results. St. Paul's Church

St. Paul's Church

The first time I photographed St. Paul's Church in Trinity, Newfoundland and Labrador, was in 1982 and the ground sure looked different then. I am starting a new album featuring the photos I took tn 2006. I will add photos from other years later.

Osprey

Osprey

To say I love taking pictures of osprey is an understatement. When I was in Florida for 7 winters, I took pictures of every osprey I saw. I have seen them flying over my property in Holyrood; however, I am surrounded by trees and can't really get good photos. I did get excellent shots on Change Islands, Bellevue and South Brook in Newfoundland.

I have 4 Facebook Albums and have provided links to the two most recent below:

Ochre Pit Cove

Ochre Pit Cove

I loved photographing Ochre Pit Cove and have done so many times. Unfortunately, this town was devastated by a wildfire this summer, and many homes were destroyed. I have shared my photos of this photogenic community many times, but you might like to see what it was like when I took pictures. The Canadian Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other groups are raising money to help the people affected by the fire. The Federal Government is matching donations to the Red Cross (I am not sure about the donations to the Salvation Army)
