Houses 2

Houses 2

The first photo of houses today was taken in Witless Bay several years ago and the house is still there and has been beautifully restored.

The second shows a house and barn in Conception Harbour and both structures still exist.

The house in the third photo is still in Chapel's Cove, Conception Bay.

Next is an abandoned house in Holyrood  and is being used for storage these days.

The rest of the photos were taken in Mitchell’s Brook ion 2012.  If you like viewing and/or photographing older homes, I recommend a visit to this community in St. Mary’s Bay.

Houses

Houses

Those of you who have been on my Photo of the Day list for some time already know that I have photographed houses in Newfoundland and Labrador.  I have shared many of the images over the years and often return to this topic from time to time.

For the next few days I plan to share a few of the images I have on file.  As you can imagine, many of the old houses have already disappeared.

I you recognize any of the houses and would like to share a story. feel free to send it to me and I will add your comments to my Blog.  I will not publish your name unless you request that I do so.

The first two photographs show houses in Holyrood.  The first is still standing, but hasn’t been lived in for many years  The second house is gone (I think)

The third photos were taken in a community in Trinity Bay North, possibly Brownsdale.

The blue house is in Harbour Main and has been restored.  The house is now yellow.

The house with red trip was taken in the Trinity area.

The old yellowish hose (2 photos) is in Cupids and has been restored.

The last two houses were photographed in Colliers.  The one in the last photo is gone and has been replaced by a modern home.

Moose 3

Moose 3

I won't continue sharing photos of moose after this evening. First, I have several Moose Galleries on line which you can view at your leisure: http://www.lanephotography.com/moose/moose.htm

Second, I am not sure which moose photos I have shared before and don't want too many duplicates.

This link will take you to the photos I have shared on my Blog since 2006: http://kbrucelane.blogspot.ca/search?q=moose

Moose 2

Moose 2

It was nice to see two moose in my yard last evening. It gave me an oppportunity to photograph them as well as to move away from the Birds of Florida Series.

We've been back in Newfoundland and Labrador for over a month and we have seen 2 snow storms. Fortunately the snow didn't last long this time of the year.

It was sort of ironical that yesterday I drove for 1.5 hours on the sideroads between Holyrood to Whitbourne and didn't see a moose anywhere, but found 2 in my yeard after arriving home. :)

Moose

Moose

This evening two moose visited our yard for a while and I was lucky enough to spot them munching on a plant in my driveway. I photographed them as they walked closer to the house, then as they ate some of the wild plants in the yard.

Once, even though I was no more then 30 feet (10 m) away, the yearling felt comfortable enough to lie down for a break. However, the mother kept a close watch and I dared not go closer.

This is probably the same mother and calf that has been around here since last fall and I photographed as recently as 2 weeks ago.
