The first great blue heron I saw was in British Columbia in 1978. Since then, I have photographed them in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, but my best pictures were taken in SW Florida, where I spent 7 winters. The birds in Citrus Park (now Bonita Terra) were used to people being around, and I could get close views with my zoom lens.
